BRUCE KAPLAN

Banking on his extensive background in media and his outreach to the Pittsburgh-area business community, Bruce Kaplan helps secure new business for Ceisler Media. With relationships as his currency, he is astute at getting a door opened, a contact reached, a proposal read.
Bruce works with Ceisler associates on many accounts, but specifically keeps an eye on the Donate Life campaign and Wesley Family Services.
It’s a continuation of work he has done his entire career. Before joining Ceisler Media in 2008 Bruce’s leadership was particularly focused on the development and management of customer and community partner relationships for KDKA-TV/CBS.
Bruce spent 31 years at the hallmark Pittsburgh station, working in programming, production, marketing/promotion and sales management. He was a leader for the TV station in both business development and community initiatives. Additionally, he was responsible for leading the image and communication responsibilities of the organization and for leading the effort for effective public relations.
He built his own business, Shoots and Score LLC, working on projects to develop revenue, provide marketing direction and support and manage media purchases. Clients include the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, Wesley Family Services, the Westmoreland County Airport Authority and the Greater Pittsburgh Automobile Dealers’ Association.
Bruce was born and raised in Chicago, received a Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) degree from the University of Michigan and moved to Pittsburgh to join KDKA-TV in 1976. He serves on the Board of the Greater Pittsburgh Automobile Dealers’ Foundation and is Co-Chair of the Committee for Oversight on Organ Transplantation.
He lives in Peters Township with his wife, Carol. They have a son and daughter, both married, and are the proud grandparents of five.
Bruce – a former player – has been refereeing hockey for the past 25 years. He works between 500-700 games a year, from tikes to men’s leagues, and also supervises up-and-coming refs. “I enjoy blowing a whistle,” he says.
His other spare time is spent golfing the beautiful courses of Western Pennsylvania. He has trained himself to enjoy the good shots and ignore the bad ones.
